What is HOPE?

“Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for certain things to happen” (Oxford Dictionary). In certain situations, we expect something to happen, a state of anticipation, aspiration, and eagerness believing that the desired outcome will be positive.

Hope Therapy, developed by Charles Synder explains two elements of hope

  1. the ability of the client to set realistic and achievable goals

  2. the ability of the client to choose the practical pathways to achieve the set goals.

Hope therapy increases focus to work on positive and achievable goals using cognitive reframing and skills.

Hope therapy encourages gratitude for past achievements while working on the present situation in the journey to positive changes.
